Headed by Issachar Sr. (who was sent with others in 1805 on the first missionary journey to the west), they all joined the Mt. Lebanon Shakers and stayed there except for Issachar Jr., who came to Watervliet's 2nd F. in 1829. He joined the South F. in 1833 and was appointed 2nd Elder in that year. In 1835 he was part of the group that moved the bodies of Mother Ann and Father William from their original burial place to the present cemetery. He was teaching the rules of singing to Sisters in 1840, and was appointed 1 st Elder in 1844. In 1871 he helped make a coffin for a Sister, turned brush handles, assisted in laying floor and the like.
