| bio | Casey, Fannie C. (1862-1911), of the 2nd Family, Alfred, ME, was born in Portland, ME, and brought to the Shakers
as a child, in 1871. She became a teacher; a successor in teaching to Elder John Bell Vance, she taught from 1880
(1881 ?), until about 1900, when she was replaced by a younger Sister. She was appointed associate eldress of the
Church F. in February, 1892; served as trustee from March, 1896, until her death; and as eldress from 1902, until at
least 1905. In 1908 a "Catalog of Fancy Goods made at Shaker Village, Alfred... n was published with her duties
identified as trustee and manager. She indentured Sr. R. Mildred Barker, the later spiritual leader at Sabbathday
Lake, ME.
