She cared for many children there and moved to Sabbathday Lake, ME, in 1931. She tended to the Shaker museum for many years in her new home and "was a charming hostess" to the visitors. She also became one of the head cooks, was in charge of the dairy, taped Shaker chairs, and was a favorite with the younger members of the comunity, to whom she was known as "Grandmother."
