6 July 1838 Sylvester goes to Albany "to Patroon's

3 Nov 1845 Luther Parks began to make brooms and Syl-
vester is instructing him. (VB-321 CF)
6 Sep 1847 Scraping broom corn - Sylvester runs the
scraper. (VB-321)
7 Oct 1847 Relleased from caring for hogs to make
brooms. (VB-321)
1851 Appointed on a committee to look into condition of
buildings.
1851 Named head of Milking Class (composed of men under
50 -- Daniel, John Decker, Chauncey Miller, Maynard, Josiah, Philip,
John Ingham, James Langridge and one of oldest boys) to do milking
Sunday evenings. Charles Brackett headed the other group to milk
Sunday mornings and "such times through the week as he shall deem
it unsuitable for the Sisters to milk." (WR reel 2)
24 Nov 1856 Sylvester moves to NF to be deacon.

31 Dec 1859 2d Order being separated from 1st (CF).
Jesse Harwood is sent to 2d Order to be their Trustee; Sylvester
is "to move back to CF and take Jesse's place in the Deacons'

3 Jan 1860 Moves from NF to CF and will be family

23 Jan 1860 Went to Schdy and shipped clothing etc. to
some of his relatives in Wisconsin who are needy and in suffering

June 1863 Chauncey Miller broke his arm. Sylvester then
did the business CM would have done. (PAB)
7 Sept 1863 Changed places with Daniel Sherman,
Sylvester going into Office. (VB-338)
21 Dec 1863 Went to Lebanon "to ask counsel of Ministry
about selling some wood." (PAB) to get money to buy coal. (VB-338
CF)
30 Dec 1863 Helping survey 60 acre lot (laying out
for sale of wood to be cut)
27 Jan 1864 Canvasses other families about giving to
Sanitary Commission.
30 Jan 1864 Has new backhouse made for ministry sisters.
17 May 1864 To move to NF as deacon and Jesse Harwood to
take his place in charge of farms. (Above 4 items from PAB)
17 May 1866 Changes places at NF with C. Copley and
becomes Elder. (VB-338)
1 May 1871 Released as NF elder and replaced by Nathaniel Fry with Chauncy Dibble as Elder Brother. (VB-338)
14 May 1872 Moved from NF to CF to make his home.
Occupies old meeting room and porch. "His health is poor." (DAB)
1 Jan 1876 Made a desk for CF office and put it in front
room as a New Year's present. (PAB)
6 Feb 1877 Helped make Ephraim Prentiss' coffin. (PAB)
29 May 1878 Started on a trip to Penn Yan, where he

22 Nov 1888 Sylvester Prentice of CF died. "Last of the

Obituary in SHAKER MANIFESTO, Jan. 1889:
"Had lived in community 60 years. Was a peacemaker and loved by
all for his kindness and unswerving integrity to the cause. His
noble example was a safe pattern for all to follow and he will be
held in loving remembrance by his many gospel friends." (J.B. -
