7 Aug 1917 Eldress Caroline Tate and Lucy Bowers visited
South Family to see where they would live. "Eldress Caroline feels
terrible to give up her home (Enfield, Conn. Shaker settlement)
where she has lived all her life."
8 Aug 1917 Eldress Caroline and Lucy start for home at
10 a.m. Hugo took them to Albany, first to select wallpaper and
buy other necessaries for their comfort here. They have chosen the
Office across from this house in the dooryard. Three nice rooms
upstairs and two down. On 9th they took r.r. back to Conn.
16 Oct 1917 Enfield people arrive.
6 July 1920 Maggie Caldwell gives up canning sauces by
request of her doctor & Eldress Caroline takes over.
3 Apr 1921 After Eldress Anna Case had a stroke, the
Ministry visited SF and asked each sister who they would like
appointed to help Eldress Anna with clerical worik—choice was Ella
Winship or Eldress Caroline. Ella won, "Eldress Caroline did not
care to be bothered with a pen or writing of any kind."
14 July 1921 After all hands at SF had worked until 4
p.m. at CF canning beans, Eldress Caroline and Lucy canned a crate
of raspberries.
31 Aug 1921 Eldress Caroline "doing up sauce, jellies,
pickles and relishes for winter—plums, peaches, sweet pear
pickles, grape jelly, pepper relish, etc."
24 Sept 1921 Went to New Jersey to visit sister,
brother, etc.
31 Oct 1921 After Elder Josiah Barker's death, ministry
appointed Eldresses Anna and Caroline as trustees at CF and
apparently Eldress Caroline & Lucy were expected to move over. But
after Julia McNally brought message that CF would "run their own
business," there was no move and Anna Goepper says "Eldress
Caroline and Lucy had in truth no idea of going anyway unless
ministry insisted."

12 July 1922 Caroline puts up 45 qts. beets.
13 July 1922 Caroline canned over 80 qts. cherries.
22 July 1922 Puts 125 pickles down in brine.
25 Jan, 25 Mar, 10 Apr, 23 Apr 1923 She and Eldress Anna
are involved with Elder Walter Shepherd about sale of CF
property.
14 June 1924 Elder Walter comes to secure Caroline's
signature to the final payment of the Enfield property, originally
$100,000 but increased greatly by the payment of interest from 1914
to 1924.
17 Jan 1925 Dr. Lothridge came to see Caroline & Abbie
Bartlett.
22 Jan 1925 Eldress Anna takes Caroline to Albany to
see Dr. Hart.
31 Jan 1925 Caroline unusually feeble.
3 & 4 Feb 1925 Dr. Lothridge here to see her.
5 Feb 1925 Dr. Lothridge brings Dr. Gordiner of Troy to
see her. Charges $20.
8 Feb 1925 Folks visit Caroline who remains in bed most
of the time.
10 Feb 1925 Eldress Anna takes Caroline to the home
hospital, organized by Dr. Stillman to stay two weeks @ $3.14 per
day.
13 Feb 1925 Eldress Anna takes Caroline to see Dr. Hart
and to look at a sanatorium.
25 Feb 1925 Eldress Anna takes Caroline to sanatorium and
to see nerve specialist.
2 Mar 1925 Eldress Anna goes to Albany and brings Caroline
home.
29 Apr 1925 Caroline much improved compared with last
December.
23 May 1929 Caroline & Lucy go to the airport. See 10
buses loaded with children come to see the airplanes.
16 July 1929 Eldress Anna, Caroline,- Lucy and Victoria
go to West Albany to see wonderful fireworks -- Italian celebration
of a religious day.
17 July 1929 Caroline and Lucy go over to the Preventorium
at CF. Takes 75 cents in pennies to Miss Harrington for the
children.
9 Aug 1929 Hugo takes Eldress Anna, Caroline and Lucy to
Lake George. Arrive at 10:30 a.m., have 2 hour motor sail on lake,
dine at 1:30, start home 5:30.
10 Aug Eldress Anna and Lucy go down to Albany to Buick
dealer. Select and buy a car; Caroline & Lucy pay $800, Hugo puts
in $400, old car allowance $400.
26 Sept 1929 Caroline and Lucy go to Albany, are
fortunate in seeing the first ocean freighter come to the Albany
Port to unload and reload.
28 Nov 1929 (Thanksgiving) A fine chicken dinner we had,
and Eldress Anna, Caroline, Ella Winship and Lucy go to see "The
Golddigger" at the Madison Theater, Albany.
