Lebanon, NY, born in Manchester, Lancashire, England, was the sixth child of eight, and was admitted to Shakers in 1819, followed by five of her siblings. One of them, Fannie, became office deaconess, and the other siblings seemed to have died in the Shaker faith. Sister Eliza Ann became eldress of the Church F. in 1844, and went to the Central Ministry on Christmas day in 1856, to assist Sr. Betsy Bates. She became 1 st in Ministry in March, 1869, and served in that position until she resigned, due to ill health, in 1891. She kept a diary, reporting the activities of the Sisters in the shop, in using flax, preparing mops and other items, "fixing" tow, cotton and linen yarn, carding wool, and spinning.
