16 Feb 1916 Florence enters Homeopathic Hospital "to
be operated on for appendicitis and other troubles."
21 Feb 1916 Florence "very bad off." Eldress Anna
Case and Grace Dahm visit her. "Grace thinks she will not come
home alive, but Eldress Anna has hopes..."
24 Feb 1916 Eldress Anna has phone call that Florence
is dying. She and Mary Dahm go. Eldress Anna returned at 5 p.m.
as nothing could be done, Mary stayed. Florence died at 7 p.m.
"Doctors claim all claimed it was a most successful operation in
every way but she was poisoned thru and thru with typhoid
bacteria in the gall bladder. They drained the bladder and had
it examined in the lab and they said it wass full of typhoid
bacteria. She died very hard, screamed to the last breath. They
removed appendix, straightened the womb, drained the gall
bladder and removed hemorrhoids."
25 Feb 1916 Albert went to Albany in family sleigh to
bring body home. "A beautiful coffin she looks lovely. Coffin
$30, embalming $10." She "looks very natural and nice. Mr.
Dasher used the new process of tinting the corpse a natural color
and it is certainly a great improvement over the old awful
ghastly color."
27 Feb 1916 Practiced funeral sons in a.m. NF and CF
came in afternoon for funeral. We sang "At Rest," "Over the
River of Death," "I ..Shall Know My Own in Heaven," "Waiting and
Watching," and Maggie (Caldwell) started the last song over the
casket "Will You Go with Me to Heaven." (This was a Sunday.)
22 Apr 1916 Tombstones brought home for Florence,
Elder Isaac and Polly Lee.
1 May 1916 Anna Goepper walked to cemetery, found
Florence's stone misspelled "Bourm" instead of "Bourne."
