bio Stickney, Amanda (1854-1927), of Sabbath day Lake, ME, was born July 6, in Bridgewater, ME, and brought to the Shakers in 1862. She signed the covenant January 1, 1872, worked on the "Shaker cloak" and for many ears she made the brethren's clothes. Amanda was listed as family deaconess in September, 1880 and January, 1905, and 2nd deaconess in 1886 and 1890. Her younger sister, Prudence, became trustee and eldress, see below, and another sister of hers joined the Shakers for a time, too.
