12 Oct 1852 Chauncey Copley proposed putting an ell on the
Ministry Shop so he can have a place to work at joining. To
start on it immediately. (PAB) (Ministry usually worked at

20 Dec 1852 Sold 15 acres of South Lot including wood to
Michael Camp for $75/acre and bought 18 acres north for $475 from
Mr. Stone. (PAB)
11 Jan 1853 Loren Wicks and Arabella Hayes were "among the
missing at breakfast; it seems they took an early start for
Syracuse." Their things were brought to Office, inventoried.

10 Jan 1854 "Tom the paddy has had a fight with Anson the
Dutchman. It is the 2d fight Tom has had with the men and the
Trustees are going to discharge him in the morning notwith-
standing all call him one of the best men to work they have.(PAB)
24 Sep 1854 (Sun) John Decker went at 5 am to get constables and
a squire. "We have been very much annoyed of late with gunners
on the Sabbath. They thought they would take them up and see if
it would not do some good... There was a number taken up, one
paid 13/, the rest gave boil, some left their guns, etc," (PAB)
3 Nov 1854 The Yellow Shop, Brick Shop, Farm Shop & Black-
smith's Shop were broken into; taken were 4-6 calf skins, a hone,
a water level, a diamond to cut glass with, and $8-10. Trustees
went to Albany to report to police.
18 Nov 1854 SF robbed of 20 bushels of Indian corn and their
corn sheller.
26 Nov 1854 A CF brother was told of Absalom Soul being
seen about 4 am with a load of corn drawn by one horse. Alexan-
der Youngs and Chauncey Miller left about 5 pm to get what evi-
dence they could in Schenectady. Stayed all night, in am got
constable and search warrant and went to Soul's mill (at Bran-
dywine Mills). A son, Charles waXs at work; they told him of
their business; he stepped out as if to call his father and took
off for the woods. They searched the mill looking for the corn
sheller as it was impossible to identify their crom from other in
the mill. CM spied a desk with about 30 keys (suspicious) and
then, in a cupboard found 3 of the calfskins with C. Copley's
name on them. They then searched the house, but found only the
hone stolen from Nehemiah White, but saw other things they sus-
pected of being stolen from others, i.e., 5 watches. Absalom
Soul taken to city jail. CM then went to Albany on cars and told
police of Charles Soul's escape. They recognized from descrip-
tion that Charles was the person they had picked uip 2-3 days be-
fore trying to pass counterfeit money. Charles told them he was
in town with a load of old iron and the Shakers suspected their
corn sheller might have been included in the load. (On Nov. 29
Alexander found this to be so and discovered the sheller at the
scrap dealers.) At the time, Charles pleaded innocent, said he
had taken the money in at the mill as good money. The police
showed the bills to CM and he knew they were the ones stolen from
the CF Herb Shop. It was later found that Charles came back to
his house, changed clothes, started the mill and ground the corn,
and then left. A constable with someone who knew the family went
to Charles' uncle's home in Duanesburg , found Charles, after
