Julia McNally appointed as Trustee;but she refused, saying "she
neither felt capable or able" but was willing to help all she
could "but wanted no break or hard feelings with the SF." So
Eldress Anna and Eldress Caroline will continue as Trus^tees for
both families. "We undersrtand also there is to be no more can-
ning at the CF of any kind. So the canning ends." The Ministry
didn't argue this last matter because they said it was too hard
work for the few sisters there are to do it and that is the
truth, although it helped make our living.
19 Nov 1921 Elder Walter at CF straightening up Elder Josiah's
affairs. A Mr. Baumes is owed $3500 and some of the hired hands
several hundred.
10 Dec 1921 Eldress Caroline and Lucy walk to CF to see Julia
McNalley. "As they all feel so free at CF to call on Byron
Coburn for all their wants (running machine for laundry, fixing
washing machine, etc.) they should remember him with some of El-
der Josiah's clothes instead of giving the very byest to Fred
Willey, the hired man."
9 Jan 1922 Barbara Hooper, 74 years old, walked over from CF
to bring Anna Goepper a roast chicken and a lot of raisins.
2 Feb 1922 Barbara Hooper fell on ice, cut artery in head and
almost bled to death before Dr. Lothridge got there.
4 Apr 1922 Baumes sent for and paid his $3300; Fred Willey
also paid $300 he demanded for use of his auto by CF.

Certainly their manual labor was all hired now and one of
their farm managers was Fred Willey. Lucy Bowers, who had moved
to the Wvlt SF when the Enfield, Conn. Society closed, kept a
diary and we are fortunate to have several of these in the SHS
collection. Her entries about the CF read thus:
7 Apr 1922 Willey here in p.m., "wants $300 for using his
car for CF folks and will get it."
8 Apr 1922 "Caroline (Tate) pays $930 to Peets (local
butcher) for meat, bill run up by CF."
27 Jun 1922 Caroline and Lucy walk to CF. "See the Ministry
House for the first time in 34 years, would be a fine little home
for a small family some time in the future."
31 Aug 1922 "Can tomatoes at the CF for the CF. Fred
Tribleyrolls the cans."
5 Dec 1922 Walk to CF with Harriet Jones ' pension check.
5 Jan 1923 Caroline and Lucy go to Albany to do business for
CF. Ministry come from Lebanon and go to CF to see them about
selling CF.
29 Jan 1923 Elder Walter Shepherd also comes from Lebanon.
Goes to CF but "no sign of a sale because all the sisters pull
apart."
31 Jan 1923 Mr. Maples (now owns WF} here and confers about
sale of CF property.
4 Feb 1923 (Sun.) Maples sees Ministry and helps figure up CF
account for the year. Nearly $15,000 expenses and only a little
over $2000 income.
8 Feb 1923 Eldress Mary Nelson and Julia McNalley here from
CF "with sad hearts they tell of suspense, etc."
9 Mar 1923 Men here (Metzner & Co.) to look over CF pro-
