Strong's. Two older daughters, being of legal age, chose to stay.

/ 13 Nov 1810 Lane's now have Jed. Strong Esq. as lawyer and want Betty & Phebe
to comeljjto them. Jedediah "being an inveterate enemy to the faith
and evidently willing to lay hold on any advantage which occurred
to harass and afflict Believers, and probably anticipating some
advantage to himself from the labor of Prime's daughters, was induced
to issue a special warrant to Stephen Wells..."
Now a series of warrants were issued by Strong against Stephen Wells,
each for $25 for harboring Prime's slave, Betty, because law
allowed eachwarrant to cover only 2 days (at $12.50 per day).
^ 20 Dec 1810 "Corrupt and prejudiced jury" decided against Wells. Now to go
to NY Supreme Court.

V 18 Dec 1810 Trouble with McDole boys, John & Hugh. Went to Albany to see their
mother who was already dead; kept by their uncle although had been
bound by their father to the Shakers and their mother was a Believer.
Finally legally recovered.

.,-'3 Jan 1811 Injunction issued by Chancellor for Lane, Strong & Co. to stop
further proceedings against Wells until decision of Supreme Court.
18 Jan Thomas Bowser, insane, ran away to Albany. Elizabeth Bowser^went
and brought him back.

27 Jan Two deacons went fftoSchoharie and found John McDole in Tinkertown
and Hugh in Middletown. Brought back.
v 20 Apr A mob with old Hannah Lane came to SF to take away Betty Lane. She
was dragged out of the house but by a "violent and resolute struggle"
she broke away and ran into the house and the mob left.

./ 23 Apr Another mob came with old Prime, but the brethren kept them out of
the house and they went off empty-handed.

y 28 Apr A company of negroes went to SF after the Lanes but they failed to
see them.
