22 Feb Martha Youngs, mother of El izabeth, was found in the road between
2d Family "quite deranged and unable to give any account how she
came there; but it appeared evident she was left there by some per-
son or persons unknown."

27 Feb Sally Robison and 5 children arrived from Utica "in a poor miserable
and distressed" condition. She had been here on Feb. 8 and went back
for her family. Her husband, Newell, was unable to come because of
illness but expects to come as soon as he is able.

have received an order from Lebanon "never more to receive a married
man into our society whose wife did not believe nor a married woman
whose husband did not believe. "The last part of this order has
been of long standing."

influence of Eunice Chapman in Legislature against Shakers.

20 Prepared a "remonstrance" in Chapman/case and del ivered it to Martin
Van Buren, now state senator from Hudson.
