/JO-^^i-- apd "l~oredown the fences on each side of the road near the burying
ground, leveling the rail fence on the south and the board fence on
the north of the road. Fromn-hence it came directly across the open
field to the SE corner of the orchard and blew down one tree; thence
it proceeded directly toward the southernmost buildings, wheen its
greatest victoms appeared tobe divided into two parts--the north
part struck some plank which lay level with the ground and formed a
bridge over the strem which goes by the washhouse; a number of these
planks were torn from their places. It also tore boards from the N
side of the woodhouse which stands S of the washhouse; then it
crossed the new cellar, the walls of which were finished and covered
with boards. These boards were blown away. It passed by the Meeting
House and Office, overturned and broke several wagons standing there
and tore down the fence each side of the street and the lane by the
garden and cowyard and a line of fence beyond." Though it came from
the west ft tore a door off the east side of the timberhouse; tore
shingles off the roof of the old spin shop and from the east roof
of the Office barn. Many people in the street were knocked down but,
though scared and wet from the rain, none were injured.

Dodge to get new leases from Stephen Van Rensselaer.
21 Aug Severe hailstorm broke 172 panes of glass at CF (besides many cracked),
40 at NF, 162 at WF and 50 at SF. Also damage to gardens; onion seed
beaten down, cucumber and melon vines almost ruined, also cabbage
and sweet potatoes.
30 Aug Margaret White died.
2 Sept Masons begin brick work on Brethrens Shop.
12 Sept Lucy ^Annas and 3 children come from Cazenovia.
24 Sept Plates and rafters of shop raised.
27 Sept Brick work finished.
I 16 Nov "A separation was made between the 2d Family and South Family and
a division made of their property which was hitherto h e l d in common.
The SF now came under the care of the CF; Calvin Wells is Eld er
and El izabetlvYoungs Eldresss.
6 Dec SYWells has finished draft of new book; takes it to Lebanon.
7 Dec Masons have finished plastering new shop and leave.
