18 Aug "Freegift and Nathan bored into the earth between the 2d house and
long shop and at the depth of 41 ft. and 3-4 in. struck the solid
rock whichciycfers this whole vicinity below the surface of the earth.
Their object is to drill through the rock for the purpose of obtain-

6 Oct "Samuel Pease, while coming from the office to his breakfast this
mogning, was suddenly struck with the numb palsy and was unable to
get any further without assistance. He was taken to the 2d House

25 May (Sun) While the family were at meeting, the mother of Maria Lamb came in
with some men and dragged Maria (over 21 years of age) out of the
Meeting House, put here in a carriage and drove off to Schenectady.
27 Maria, having escaped from her mother and fled to her uncle,prevaiIed
on him to bring her back to the Shakers.
