10 MAY "We have been after cowslips this afternoon."
13 May "Eldress Ruth thinks it best for little girls to work in the kitchen
until they are 9 years old."
16 May Abial Wood and his family have been here on a visit. He moved to the SF
last Friday and George Wood has come here to live.
18 May Frederick and Chauncey Copeley have been to Schenectady and settled with
Groat for the island.
21 May "This forenoon Benjamin Wells and Hannah Earl ran'away and before night
they got married; what a foolish choice."
23 May Gustavus Simmons, 12 years old, has come to live.
27 May Joseph Brown has come back again. He went away last August, now his
father has bound him.
30 May Two brethren and 12 sisters came from the families to clean the Meeting
House, Sister Polly, Rebecca, Eleanor and Ann painted all the Meeting
House windows on the outside.
Tabitha, Polly and Chauncey Miller stayed at the Meeting House all night
because of the windows being out.
6 June Have orders for 6 doz. bonnets for Edwards in NY, 3 doz. in Albany and
1 doz. Schenectady.
11 June "The silk worms have hatched out." ._ _. _. ___,.__ .. _-
17 June The halls (of the MeetingHouse) "-arefurnished .with ^palm leaf sheets "r
instead of paper to keep the wall clean."
In the evening while we were in meeting, a cheese was taken from the
cheese room but who took it, we do not know.
23 June Last night the 2d Family had their oxen stolen. They tracked them to
Albany where the thieves had sold them for $80. Joseph Chappel (Chapel)
was one of the thieves but who the other was we do not know. They got
the oxen and brought them home.
28 June Frederick, Chauncey and Stanton have been to Troy to try to find the
cheese but were not successful. Soon after they returned home, Elder
Calvin (of SF) came with about half of it. It was found in the SF barn,
a hat and frock.with it. We lay this theft to Joseph Chappel.
Huldah Curtis "has chosen the world for her company and has taken her
flight."
30 June Last Friday, Dorephus Simmons came here to live and today he and
Gustavus ran away.
1 July This morning the boys returned and their mother with them. She has gone
to the SF. We now have 20 boys under 16 years of age.
7 July . Frederick, Lucy Fairchild and Sarah Simons have gone after mulberry
leaves for the silk worms."beyond Troy."
18 July Abial Wood has brought his -two little twin girls, Sarah & Lillian,

Some of the singers have been to the NF to learnjsome new songs Sister
Asenath brought from the east. They are shouting songs.
19 July Fred, Polly, Abigail Messenger and Caty have been beyond Troy after
mulberry leaves, leaving at 4 a.m. and returning at 12.
Phebe Hogle was carried to her relations in Troy but they would not keep
her so Eldress Elizabeth had to bring her back.
20 July Lillis Wood is sent to the NF to live.
23 July The families sung the shouting songs In public meeting.

27 July Daniel & Frederick "have been over the river" after two children that
a man wanted to give up; he said he would tiring them next week.
31 July John Hedrick brought his two children, Jacob & Elizabeth, and bound
them to Daniel Hawkins.
