This day he was relieved from Elders Order and succeeded by Chauncey Copley; and
moved into chamber over sitting room in new part of the (dwelling) house.
Moved his tools etc. to room at south end of Herb Shop. Made steps for shop, par-
titioned off a room for tools, put up shelves, made places for chisels, bits, etc.
12 June Set 14 panes glass.
8 July Made coffin for Zuba Train?

Repaired clocks, made frame for machinery in drying shop, etc., made
racks for dryer
13 Aug Went fishing, got a bullhead and 2 sunfish, "small doings!"
Made patterns for clock parts and for machinery parts.
Cast and rolled silver for pens.
Worked in blacksmith shop when he needed to, to make screw bolts, etc.
22 Oct Worked on cap over door to his shop "but the worst of it all is, I let my
brace fall from the top of a short ladder onto a stone step and broke it, which
I would not have done for the last $5 that I ever saw. It was given to me
by Br. Daniel Boyd at Union Village. However, I shall try to mend it."
2 Dec Went to Albany in wagon, then to Schenectady on cars, then by railroad to
Niskayuna depot about 5 p.m. "From thence I came home in the dark and thru
the soft mud on foot with no other assistance except what was afforded by
my little hickory staff."
15 Dec Most of the day gathering fish from the race below the mill, skinning and
dressing bullheads.
17 Dec Engaged most of the day in the George Hungerford case. Been to see Dr.
Wade and Homer Strong.
