20 June Split out 2-300 pins for broom handles. My shoulder and arm very larne.
21 June Went upon roof of 2d House to instruct Sylvester about laying shingles up the gutter In
the valley between the'two roofs. My shoulder and arm a little better, knee and leg
worse. Whittled a few broom handle pegs.
7Aug Bro. Ezekial^wno died yesterday^ was buried today. (Nothing about making coffin.)
12 Aug 1000 broom handles were brought in this a.m. and Thomas and 1 strung about 1/3 of them
(Freegift sandpapers, makes pins, etc.)
3-16 Sep Took trip to east end of Long Island.
17 Sep Spent most of day writing letter to Pleasant Hill Ministry about the death of Sister

1 Oct "Made a plate of sheet iron to stop one end of our drum so as to increase the heat in it
for the purpose of popping corn more expediHously. Thomas has improved the most of

6 Nov Edward Halemnas come here to live today and goes into the herb business with
Isaac 1 also came with him and will help take care of the stock.
23 Nov 23 sashes brought into the shop today, with 43 broken lights. We dug out putty and set
40 panes and patched the other 3.
2 Dec Received the present of 2 gal. of scallop eyes from Geo. Tuthil! by express.
3 Dec Finished cutting up chair rounds and have enough for 96 chairs.

21 Jan Received from Geo. Tuthill a barrel of long clams and 3 gal. taken out of shefel.
22 Jan Helped the deaconesses boil the cl ams in the barrel and pick them out - there were
1900 of them.
15 Mar Finished turning chair rounds--1000 of them. Found they could turn 100 in less than an hou
7 Apr Went into the east woods and hunted up a maple tree for chair backs, Thomas Ait it
down and we trimmed itand sawed up the logs and got home to dinner.
18 Apr Put my chair post stuffin lumber room In lower loft.
Put my chair back stuff in north garretof dwelling house under the tin roof.
10 May Been hunting up some old racks for bending chair backs. ..^)
6 June "Made a 4 light sash for 2d House, not to say for Jennet as I have not the honor of making
anything for her."
1 1 June Went to Schenectady and picked out cherry boards for table leaves. Got enough for
3 kitchen tables.
