1 Sept Had an invite to go and superintend the shingling of the old mill .
10 Sept Thomas began to tear the old shingles off.
1 7 Sept Being unable to plan or do any laborious work, I use up my time indoing I ight chores
and writing. Yesterday I cut and straightened about 1100 tins for setting glass, etc.
Thomas and his helpers finish shingling the old millthis morning.
29 Sept Bored and drove in glue a tough hickory pin In each corner of the two longest new
cherry tables.
4 Oct Have had continuous turns of cholic for 4 days.
12 Oct This morning I rouned off the corners of the 4 dining room tables and they are now
completely finished. In afternoon repair^ a pail for Moriah and worked some at mending
a wagon chair.
3 Nov Went to Albany for coffin boards but they had not arrived, heard they were on the canal .
Went around to the big boarding houses to find market for scallops forGeorge Tufhill
and "think I have procured several customers."
7 Nov "Planed out 3 pieces of pitch pine between 3-4 feet long and it was too much for me. "
10-11 Nov Covered ceil ing above and around the sink in the dining room with zinc.
12 Nov Fixing his lantern so itwould not blow out in a hard wind.
15 Nov Made a square dove-tailed box for chalk.
19 Nov Scallops arrived. Took to Albany and sold 5-6 gal .but had to bring 2 gal . home when
ran out of time.
24 Nov Repaired outside doors of Office barn.
25 Nov Sold rest of scallopsIn Albany. Got $1 .60 per gal.
6 Dec Received 5 gal . of scallops and took into Albany and sold.
8 Dec "Glazed a 24-! ight sash for Joseph Pel ham to double his west window. "
9 Dec "Fixed Moriah's clock. Put the sashes in the cellar windows under the dining room and
made a sort of skedaddle ladder for Joseph Pel ham or Betsey H."
31 Dec Went Into Albany and got out Morning Glory stove which was taken in on the 29th to
have a new pot put into it, the old one having been burnt out."

4 Jan Taken with cholic about 2:15 when I was planing the end of a shovel handle. Stay in
shop all day but had "6 hard spells of puking."
5 Jan Went to 2d House (infirmary)
1 1 Jan Stayed in shop most of the day. Thomas working on getting incce .
12 Jan Thomas "and his hiredman" have had a first rate day for getting out ice.
16 Jan Jesse has started the hired men in getting out icefor customers who want 100 cakes or
more and will give 5t per cake, 10 cakes make a good load.
21 Jan Freegift stillunable to do any work.
24 Jan Stillunable to do any work. ' "Ifeelanxious for an orderly pass into the Spirit World. "
26 Jan "Some better. Mended a chair for Jesse and put a hoop on an applesauce bucket."
28-30 Had a spell ofcholic each day.
2 Feb Most beautiful clear and pleasant day. "Philip took me up to the 2d Family this morning
and brought me back this afternoon.
Too feeble to attend meeting. Anot her spell of chol Icbut not severe.

More cholic. Went to 2d House for 3 days and nights.
Left 2nd House in morning.
Went back in afternoon. "I did not know but for the last time. "
Made itto his shop to shave and write in hisjournal. Saw Elder Peter y ofGroveland go
by to the Ministry Shop.
