"As our official journalistis called for a season to assistin gathering in the crops at
the river farm, which will make it necessary for him to be absent from home (between
Sabbaths) pet>bab!y 3 or 4 weeks, which circumstance makes it necessary that there
should be a deputy appointed to keep up the journal in his absence, and thisduty has
devolved on F. W e l l s who
intends to continue the chain of events according to the

14 July Benjamin, Jesse, Sylvester & Channing have made a watering place on the Troy Road
by setting a new tub and conducting a spring into It.

22 July Washington Edwards cutght his foot very badly by stepping backwards on a scythe which
had been "left In a very Improper situation."
26 July "BrothersFrancis & Ephraim have gone down to the Island toprotect against the depre-

27 July "Soon after 6 a . m .Dean (Gage) had a stroke of palsy which rendered him entirely
helpless and nearly senseless; but this afternoon he seems to have recovered his sense
considerably and can help himself some. "

31 July "Thursy Horton was brought here today who pretends to be very sick."
6 Aug "This morning at 7 we had a meeting In commemoration of the arrival of Mother Ann
and her little company to the shores of America."
9 Aug DAB's writing again. "Two of the Advenf brethren from Troy attended our meeting.
Gave good attention to our worship In which they appeared to feel a lively interest
as was afterwards more fully proved by theirconversation and simple deportment etc."
10 Aug A genera! assembly of the Adventists is to take place at Enfield near the Shaker settle-
ment "which meeting will probably result in much good."
"Further more we have the appearance of a revival of religion near home within our own
town among the Methodists." Today they are holding a camp meeting within two miles
northeast of the Watervllet settlement, near or at the same place a camp meeting was
held last year. "This too washope will be productive cofefcjood and tend tomoralize If

11 Aug Visitors from Lebanon tell them that their stone placed at their Holy Fountain has been
broken down by vandals.
25 Aug Adal ine Manchester, a girl , died at WF .

4 Sept "Iam engaged in lettering some 'Guide Boards' for putting up at the end of the lane,
and also at the four corners 1/2 mile beyond the WF. "
10 Sept DAB takes Moriah Gillet and Betsy Harrison to Troy to the Widow Plerce's who had
written Moriah, and asked her to come. Found that Moriah's sister Mary had died of
"inflammation of the brain" several days previously, put into a vault, and was buried
today.
