22 Sept "Thisis the day set apart forthe work of cleansing and purifying. We rise at 4 a.i,m
had rre eting at 4:30, breakfast at 6. At 7:30 we commence cleansing and purifying
our buildings and the brethren finish about 10:40 . Commence going about the fields
at 1 p.m. and get through a little after2. About 2:45 both brethren and sisters went
to the Center Square/ assembled around Holy Mother's Fountain, some speaking done,
kneeled in prayer after which we sang a few songs appropriate to the occasion and
the order of the day. Returned again to the house in about 3/4 of a hour thereafter and
were dismissed for the time being. (After dinner the elders allwent out to see Sister
Polly who seems to be near her end.) At 7 we went about the dwelling house and per-
formed the duty required os us in relation tocleansing the house. "
One of the office horses was stolen out of the stable lastnight. Horse and man were
tracked for some distance. Chauncey and Stanton have scattered about 100 posters
offering "up to $75 reward for both horse and thief, or 1/2 for either. "
23 Sept Polly Vender died.
25 Sept Sarah Hays came to see her children, Edwin and Arabella. With her was a man who
lived a short time at the SF when she did.
28 Sept Chauncey and Benjamin come home with the stolen horse which had, with the thief,
been found near Hartford, Conn.
Jesse and Maynard have put a potash kettle at the water/ing place on the Albany Road.
2 Oct Deputy sheriff of Albany went to Hartford today to bring back the horse thief for trial .
4 Oct Enoch Jacobs "and suit" had arrived on Oct. 2. Today they attended family meeting
at the Meeting House and 'del ivered quite a lengthy discourse, the fore part of which
seemed better adapted to edify the Adventists present as spectators than to interest the
Believers." Itlasted about 1 hour, 40 spectators.

28 Oct StepherrWells of WF went to see the Town Supt. of Schools, J. W. Miller, and got
the money for his district.
Will Green and DAB with some of the little boys set out a butternuttree In the Center
Square.
30 Oct Ben^jjnain Train went to the river farm and found that two yoke of oxen had been stolen
from the pasture, one yoke was fattening, one working.
31 Oct Brethren started out after the thieves. In Waterford found that the oxen had been sold
there last Monday and since been butchered, "Found sufficient evidence"
2 Nov Trustees went to Waterford "tosettle with Titkum about the stolen cattle. While they
were there, who but George Wood himself came here at the Office with his mother,
all standing big as life! The very person (according to description of the butchers and
others at Cahoosville) we had suspected of the theft! What was to be done? The
Trustees all gone. Frederick was immediateliy dispatched with the Ministry horses to
Inform the Trustees and the purchasers of the oxen that the suspected character was at
our place. George Wood and his mother went to the 2d Order and the SF also. It was
a little curious, to be sure, that George should come here at this criticaltime. But It
is suggested he came to do away suspicion and to discern, on his part, what we were
doing about the matter, probably expecting some inquiry to be made of him about It
