12 May David Barker, a man reprobated from the NF at Lebanon, has been trying to get his
wife away, causing her much trouble; she fled tothis place after being acquitted by
the court at Hudson. He followed her here and is making a bustle here. "
13 May Elvia Barker "and her child" leftwith others for New Lebanon.
18 May Angeline Annas died. "This is the first day she has passed without doing something
in the work. Her disorder is theconsumption. She has been unable to do much for a
long time/ yet ready and w i l l ing to do what
she was able and ended her days honorably. "
25 May Russell Rosier "who had been disobedient and wicked, " taken to Albany.
31 May Drfrain, Joel Smith, Eleanor Vedder, Polly Bacon and two others of WF left on a
trip toHarvard and Shirley. Returned June 19.
5 June DAB and others (FSWicker, Clarissa Vender, Betsy Hawkins, Catharine Vedder and
Caroline Downs) going on a trip to Harvard, Shirley, Enfield, Canterbury, Alfred-and
Gloucester--for 6-7 weeks. Freegift again appointed to keep the journal in DAB's
absence. (They returned July 23)
10 June Rhoda Blake taken to Schenectady since "she chose to go and live with her uncle rather
than to subject to good rules and order among Bel levers. "
14 June Freegift has been sawing timber for "clothes pins for the new house." Has 1400 pieces
for the pins and 400 for screws (window)*
16 June Benjamin "got some hurt by slipping and falling on a scraper'while the brethren were
working on the road near the cold spring.
17 June Benjamin seems to be dangerously sick, occasioned by the hurt he got yesterday.
18 June "Benjamin's distress seemed to increase from the time he received his hurt until near
his decease which took place today at noon, being only 46 hours from the time of his
hurt. " It appears that when he si Ipped and fell, the scraper he was trying to move out of
the way, "the pad of his truss struck first
and was forced into the rupture of his body,
which enlarged the orificeand very much injured his intentines. By thismeans a sudden
inflamation was produced which was soon followed by mortification. Itseems his blood
was struck with mortification by which means itwas quickly conveyed to every part of
his body, so that his extremities turned quite dark before he expired; and when he was
laid out itwas found that his back and considerable part of his body had turned a dark
color."
23 June Luther Parks has gone on a journey to Steuben County to see his father and will probably

27 June Laying floors in the new addition to the dwelling. ,
4 July Meet in the new meeting room for the first time. "Sister Tqbltha (Shapley) by her
earnest request was brought in and attended with us. " After singing "Living Shepherd,"
reading of "Prophet Ezra's Prophetic Message," and exhortations by Freegift, Elder
Sister, and Sisters Betsy and Prudence, they moved back their chairs and marched two
songs and then returned to their rooms, having been in meeting about 1 1/2 hours.
