5 Aug The Smith woman at the SF took her two little girls
to the NF yesterday.
6 Aug Kept "this morning in commemoration of Mother Ann's arriving in America. Rose at 4,
had meeting at 4:30, breakfast at usual time., then attended to duties as usual on
other days.
9 Aug C. Copeley and Daniel Brainard started this morning for Ohio to see to and settle
concerning some land near the Maumee River belonging to Daniel. Returned Sept. 1.
10 Aug Gordon Norton brought his son Eli, a good looking boy nearly 13, here to live.
12 Aug "Chauncey Miller found a wonderful lotof Lobelia Inflate on Sicker'sland and he
and a number of others went to gather it." Had 3 one-horse wagonloads and there is
stil I someleft.
18 Aug Elder Brother David, Elder Sister Eliza and 11 others went to the camp meeting held
in Lewis Morris's woods. 1 understand the Methodists have rented the place for 8 years
to come.
19 Aug Another load went to the camp meeting: Elder Brother Freegift, Chas. Brackett, Henry
Watson, Nehemlah White, Joseph Brown, Alfred Lyal, Chas. White, C. H. Rosier;
and Mercy Harwood, Abby Messenger, Caroline pVe-noy, Susan Reamer, Jane Leonard,
S a l l y Mulley,
Ruth Green and Sephrona Smith.
Jesse and Luther went to Schenectady for a load of thornapple weed for extract.
Elder Sister Moriah, Elizabeth Train, Azuba Train, Mary Ann Bates and Sarah Simmons
went to Stephentown to see Train relations.
20 Aug B .5. Youngs and Calvin Wells went to camp meeting and stayed all day. Said /there
was a large number from the West Family there,
26 Aug Gathering Pennyroyal .
2 Sept Salathial Thomas died at WF .
5 Sept Attended meeting at home today. "Exercised this afternoon the Square Order and the
Step Manner for the first time in thenew meeting room."
6 Sept Began scraping broom corn. Willoughby and the boys sort itfor scraping, Sylvester
scrapes, Ephraim and C. White spread it fordrying and Nehemfah takes care of the seed
19 Sept "Change the dress from sloped tocotton worsted etc,"

24 Sept Last evening a great slaughter of black wasps took place in the elders' room. The
upper window sash having been left down in the afternoon, the wasps intruded and
secreted themselves behind the curtain and in the corner. 114 were slain outright and
this morning 150 more were killed in the hall and I learned from Elizabeth Train that
she killed about 300 yesterday in the shop room.
Picked a Spanish watermelon weighing 35 Ibs. Took about 140 of the melons to market
and sent another of the large ones to the elders at NF.
7 Oct Sylvester released from the hogs to make brooms and Jesse now feeds the hogs,
12 Oct DAB went to Troy "to see about casting some more stoves, "y
22 Oct DAB is making a bedstead for the elders' room and (Breegift is making two cases of
drawers for the same, in the new part of the dwelling.
