11 Aug ""The elders,, deacons and trustees of all the families
meet at the Meeting House to consider what was best to
be done to prevent the world's people from marring &
dirtying our church or meeting house. The spectators
make such filthy work on the floor, seats, etc. that
we can no longer endure it. It was agreed to have suit-
able persons appointed to regulate and control the
world "s people so far as to cause greater order and
decency among them. Two persons are to be stationed,
one at the inner and the other at the outer doors, whose
duty it should be to keep order and regularity among
them. These two are to be released every other Sab-
bath from their duty by two others appointed to fill
the places."
13 Aug /The sisters finish reeling some 13,000 cocoons.
25 Aug Get an orphan, Sarah Pemberton, from Cohoesville and
indenture her to Clarissa.
24 Sept Charles Torrance, one of the youth, who had been
drawing broom corn seed from the Island with an ox
team, while going down Witbeck's hill, the team ran
against the fence, "pitched him overboard between the
oxen and hurt him badly." Witbeck picked him up, put
him in the wagon and drove the team across the Binne-
kill onto the Island where Jesse Harwood brought him
and his team home. The physician found that Charles'
elbow was dislocated, one of bones in forearm broken,
and his knee partly out of joint. /
30 Sept Elder Freegift went to Lebanon to tell them of David
Miller's "dangerous state of health."
6 Oct Ministry is now Amos Stewart, Daniel Boler, Asenath
Clark and Betsey Bates. (Rufus Bishop had just died.)
13 Oct David^Miller, their physician, died at 3:30 pm. "He
had been confined in his sickness of the dropsy in the
chest, about 3 weeks. "His loss is and will be severely
felt by the Society.'1
15 Oct At David^iller "s funeral "his' good services and deeds
while living were spoken of and a number expressed
their determination to imitate his good example and
heavenly virtues."

11 Jan "Loren Wicks and Arabella Hays absconded this morning
about 5 am."
"Josiah Wood and his sister Lillis (minors) have con-
cluded to go to their relatives near Buffalo. "
24 Jan A hired man drawing manure with an ox team from the
other side of the Mohawk near Vischers Ferry, broke
through the ice. The team was got out but the sled
sunk and could not be found.
