27 Aug Elder Brother cXCopley, Stanton, Jennet Angus and
Eliza Sharp were on a ride going to the Island and,
while crossing the Binnekill "the horses took fright
and leaped overboard into the river with the sisters
and all. With much difficulty all were saved and no
lives lost but it was rather a dangerous manoeuvre."
18 Sept The DeWitt man and his wife at SF have decided to
leave.
22 Nov Prince of Wales, about 19 years old, in Albany today
on his visit to U.S. (This was later Edward VII.)
24 Nov Teams drawing wheat from the railroad that came from
their Illinois farm - 80 bags today and about as much
to come.
11 Dec Moriah^illet comes back from SF.
28 Dec "A great deal in the public papers about South Caro-
lina seceding from the Union."
30 Dec Because Shakers in New Gloucester, Me. have great
financial difficulties, all the other Shaker societies
donated money^ to them. New Lebanon gave $600, Water-
vliet $380, Canterbury & Enfield NH each $365, Union
Village $420, Pleasant Hill & North Union each $360,
to a total of $4000.

Thomas Garigan, about 16 1/2 years, absconded this
afternoon having stolen $25 in gold coin (two $10
pieces and one $5 piece) from the brick shop. Soon
followed by John Decker and D. Sherman who caught
him about 3 miles away on his way to Cohoesville, his
former home. Was brought back to Office.-
James Malone and Catharine MacGoff ran way from WF.
28 Jan Thomas Garigan taken to police in Albany.
7 Feb Eunice/Johnson, "a good aged sister, " died.
22 Feb Lucy/Fairchild released from elder's order at NF and
moves back to CF. /
Eliza^Wells and Aurilla^hite go to NF to be Elder
Sisters.
25 Feb Ann^Buckingham is to take Eliza Wells' place in Office
and Moriah^Treadway with her.
Maria Finch is put in charge of deaconess ' order atCF.
19 Mar C. Miller has sold buildings and 3 small lots in North
Albany for $2600.
