land to attend court, a charge brought against Joseph
by a seceder. (And probably the reason the Ministry
had him move to Watervliet)
9 May Joseph^Youngs of SF died. ,
21 May Elder Bro C./Copley, Ann Buckingham and MorialrGillet
attend court in Greenbush having been subpoened in the
case of Phebe Freeman,
30 June Lorin Shook and Clarence Tuttle, two youths, absconded.
22 July Began the hermetically sealed canning of peas, beans ,
sweet corn, plums, cherries, etc,
Marjorie Mathews, a youth girl, left.
11 Aug Winfield Scott Smith and Charles Lee left in the morn-
ing, went to Niskayuna and enlisted in army.
13 Aug Charles Tinkham left, planning to enlist, but his
father who was living at the SF, stopped him and took
him to SF to live.
2 Sept Hannah^Wells died at WF. "She was one of the good
mothers in Zion and has for many years officiated in
the order ot elders and has been a true and faithful
pillar in the SF. She was beloved by all."
4 Sept Ed Holmes and Geo. Washington ran away.
9 Oct Geo. Ingols of No. Union came here to avoid being
drafted in Ohio where Believers are not exempted as
conscientious objectors. C. Copley took him to Lebanon
3 Nov NehemiahrWhite took 2 barels of apples, 2 bbls. pota-
toes and 1 bbl of onions, carrots & beets to his
relatives in Lansingburgh.

2 Jan Took two boys from SF - Harvey (12) and Stephen (10)
Anthony, from West Troy.
20 Jan Joseph Anthony, about 15 years old, came to CF to
live. "He is lame and eventually proved to be a lazy,
worthless character - worse than nobody, 7-fold."
4 Feb William^Seely died. "His sufferings of late have been
quite severe. He has been a very interested man in
temporal business - hand labor - many times performing
2 days' work in one, while in the prime of life. He
continued to work at sizing broom corn in his last
days, when he would have to be carried to and from his
shop by the brethren. This was his own choice, not the
choice of the people where he lived."
6 Feb Luther^Wells, another worthy aged brother at WF, died
of consumption and old age.
