12 July "Angelina LeFuma has followed the steps of the unwise and has chosen the
world and its beggarly element. She is taken from the 2d Order and con-
veyed to Troy by G. Miller."
19 July Eldress Moriah Treadway steps down to Deaconess^ Betsy Harrison becomes;
Eldress and Lydia Annas is with her. Ann Buckingham moves into Office to
replace Lydia, and Matilda Wells becomes Ministry's cook in place of Ann.
1 Aug James Ferney of SF died of dropsy.
1 Oct "In consequence of a gift to that effect by the Ministry while at Groveland,
two sisters, Orpha DeGroat & Jerusha Truair arrived at our 2d Family to live."
6 Oct "Catherine Damp at 2d Family jumped or slid herself out of a window in the
dwelling house & killed herself. The window was in the upper story 40 ft
high. She lived about 2 hours after she was found in the morning. Her legs
were broken & otherwise severely injured. She appeared dead when found but,
on raising her up and Moving her to the house, she came to & conversed some.
On being inquired of why she did so, she said 'she had come to a great preci-
pice and had fallen off.'"
7 Oct We understand that the wife of the man that tends the 2d Family grist mill
got her clothes caught in one of the cog wheels which immediately stripped
her of all of her clothing except her stockings, broke both her legs below
her knees and otherwise mangled and bruised her badly.

Are offering an "Austin Strawberry" - took display to newspapers etc in
Albany and sent sample to investigating committee of "Farmers' Club,"
meeting in NYCity.
27 June "The school commissioner, Wn. Arthur, visited our school this afternoon.
He appeared well pleased with the school, manner of instruction, etc. He,
and also the man with him, said the children were about 2 years in advance
(in point of learning) of children in the neighborhood of the same age."
(Wm. Arthur lived at Newtonville, was the father of Pres. Chester A. Arthur.)
10 Aug Francis Goodrich "the last of the brethren denominated the 'Firstborn,17
departed the life at 3 1/6 p.m. having been confined to the nurse's dept.
some 2 weeks or more. His greatest affliction was the gravel. His age is
84 y, 10 m, 10 d." (Was the husband of Mother Lucy Wright?-)
26 Sept Channing Prentiss "whose health has been poor for some time past and seemed
to be near his end if immediate relief could not be obtained, was taken over
to the 2d Order by his request. The ride seemed to increase his distress
instead of giving relief7 and after enduring great pain thru the day, he
finished off with the troubles of this life about 9:45 p.m."

30 Sept. "Emfel H's mother was here today determined to_ take him away but not permitted, rhe
boy not wishing to go. "

17 Oct, "The mother of the Slipner children bound or indentured her two children, Nicholas and
Henry, to D .A. Buckingham, Stanton B. conveyed her home/ took along the indentures
and the father/ AdcT^Slipner, set his name and sealto the same."
