22 Aug Elizabeth Youngs at SF died. "She has had two or more paralytic shocks &

4 Sept Chas. Brackett begins converting "shoe shed" into a place to accommodate
delirious persons.
14 Dec Nehemiah White confined to sick house. Broke a blood vessel in his leg
several years ago, nowhas erysipelas in it.
27 Dec George is laying aqueduct from mill to wash house and barn. Had figured
pond level 4' higher than barn watering troughs.

5 Jan Laura Prentiss and Albert Twiss both very sick and "have to bjte attended
day and night."
13 Jan Dr. Wade drew 3 qts. of water from Albert Twiss.
29 Jan Laura, after being in nurse's dept. for 10 weeks, is now "out to her shop,
altho still in very weakly state of health."
5 Feb Chas. Brackett moved from .kerb business to shoe shop since Albert Twiss
continues sickly.
16 Feb. Elder Daniel Boler is making a machine for pounding or breaking ash timber
for baskets.
17 Mar "All our Irish hired laborers have gone rakeep St. Patrick's Day."
21 Mar Chauncy Miller "is about purchasing some land in Kentucky. He has got the
fever pretty warm. A plenty of wild land there which can be got for $1.50
to $2.00 per acre."
9 June Eldress Rebecca Carter of 2d Family died, 79 years old. "She has been an
active person during her lifetime. She was Eldress at the SF a number of
years and has been 1st or 2d Eldress for many years."
2 Aug Elizabeth Seely, one of Office sistrers, died, "having been confined some
4-5 weeks, most of the time insensible. Her disease was paralytical."
55 years old. - "She-has-been a hard-working, industrious,-goodly sister, &-
will find friends in the spirit region, no doubt."
6 Aug. "The ministry, elders and brethren over 21 years of age met in the deacon's room to decide
upon the .purchase of some wilderness land in Kentucky, now offered for sale at about 40$
per acre. IfIs agreed to make a purchase of some 30,000 acres in all, including 3-4/000
already paid for. Thisland lies mostly within the Counties of Floyd and Morgan, the pre-
ceding containing the greatest portion."
12 Aug. "The largest crowd for mefeting\this year. The church was crowded full and hundreds
that could not gef-fn, on the outside steps, at the windows, on the walk, and travelling the
streets and about the buildings, barns, etc."
