Family, 2 brethren and 2 sisters from West Family, and 5 from South Family. About same
number expected from Mf. Lebanon, Harvard and Enfield.


4 Apr David Hawkins "that good man" died, having been confined in infirmary about 2 days.
"His principal ailment was bilious or typhoid fever. He was a good man, much beloved.
His bright and shining example of meekness, love & virtue w i l l
ever remain as evidence
of what can be gained by obedience to Gospel principles and a long life of piety."
Aged 84 yr 2 mo 13 days.

10 April Walter Amsdel I ran away.
11 April Walter Amsdel I's older brother, about 15 years, ran off today. "Thru the mother's con-
spiracy, a man (stranger to us) has been here several times to decoy the boys away. This
time he lefthis team at the tavern some 3/4 mile away and came here on foot, and in a
secret manner communicated with the boys and induced them to leave."

14 May DAB is tie ing up grapevines totrellises on ministryshop. Letters have been received from
Philadelphia mission - very encouraging. Quite a number added to the little band of colored
Bel ievers.

10 June Edward Powers of 2d Family "who has been inclining to insanity forsome time has disappeared
and cannot be found. " Has tried to killhimself several times. Last seen at NIskayuna Railroad
Depot--feared he may have jumped into river.

17 June Edward Powers found in Mohawk River at Cohoes and buried there. Identified by a
handkerchief with his initials.

11 June James Chapman of South Family is-become insan^e and is now starving himself to death.
Died June 20.

6 July took a girl, Catie Morreli, about 8, from Brooklyn.
