moves to SF to live with Elder Galen Richmond.

7 May Philip Smith is appointed Trustee tocarry on seed business.

13 June About 20 teams and carriages came for public worship but we did not have it- not quite
ready yet.

15 June The families clean the Meeting House.


20 June Public worship - about 300 spectators.

12 Aug. Eiders and trustees met to consider buying about 500 acres "about or near the New York
Central Railroad on the Pine Plains." Agreed to look into Its condition.

16 Aug. Elder Giles and Copley went to look at land.

20 Aug. Land to be surveyed.

16 Nov Albert Twiss died.

13 Dec Issachar Bates Jr. died. "Another good man"...

25 Dec. Christmas. Have a meal of oysters in morning, also a raisinsweet cake. Had good
meeting. Then elders, deacons and trustees, on male side, had meeting. Subjects: 1)
1, financial aid to be rendered to suffering Church Family at Mt. Lebanon; 2) wearing long
I beards throughout the Society. "

10 Feb DAB made a "stool chair" for Jennet Angus to use with the sick.

16-17 Two companies hauling ice from the pond.
Feb Hauled between 200-300 loads today. 200 teams working, each hauling 2 loads a day.
Ice Is about 12-13" thick, very smooth.

4 Mar Jesse Wells, "last of the oldstock of Wei Is" died . He had attended service a couple of
days previous. Almost 98. "His life has been an example of goodness, virtue and peace;
industrious, frugal and effulgent with gospel grace."

9 Mar Abigail Messenger died. Br. Charles Sylvester makes coffin.

13 Mar Betsy Hawkins died, having been confined to nurse's house several years. Aged 84-7-10.

30 Mar Sisters refuse to milkany more. In fact, have not done itsince last f a l l .

24 April DAB uncovered and tied up grapevines. ' ---- ...
