5 Jan Fire in River Farm barn caused by sparks from locomotive. Roof partly
burned - put out by neighbors.
6 Jan Stanton and F. S. W'i'ckerto Troy to be paid for fire damage. It is agreed
to move the barn and the raiIroad w i I I payfor it.
8 Influenza strikes and "keels over many of the brethren and sisters."
9 Ministry arrive. Funeral at 2d Family.
-10 F.S. Wicker to Albany with Jonathan Wood to find out what is going on
in the Legislature about the Shaker trust.
11 Edwin Hays dismissed having helped with seeds about 10 days.

18 Box 18,000 papers of seeds. C. Copley goes to Troy to get paper for
seed bags.
19 F.S.W. goes to Legislature to counteract repeal of Shaker Trust act.

20 Put up 50 boxes of seeds.
22 Receive order for seeds from California. Stanton., C. Copley and
Loren Wi'cks to Albany. j

29 Starts off with C. Copley and C. Prentiss on seed route in wagon because j
there is no snow for sleigh. Get to Amsterdam. i
30 Leave Amsterday and go 22 miles to Palatine Bridge. Here there is snow
and Channing leaves wagon and goes back by railroad for his sleigh.
31 27 miles to Herkimer. Good sleighing, poor by wagon.
