15 Oct Stanton goesjto Albany to settle with Theodore.

23 Thomas Waldie takes the north farm for 5 years at $300 per year.

5 Nov "I am left alone in the garden." (Usually Willoughby and his boys
are helping harvest, etc. - now they begin to size broom corn.)

7 Jane Leonard and Charles Rozier~ go off today.

8 Thomas Edwards leaves South Family and takes his two sons, Washington
and William fromjchurch Family "much to the sorrow of the brethren and
sisters for they were fine fellows."

13 Six t^eams go to Albany todaywith potatoes for New York City.

(Now he has a hired man to help him.)

27 I put up seeds for Montreal. The hired man I had quit and goes home
to Rochester.

28 Again alone in garden.

30 Packs seed for Dr.Landreth of Philadelphia and takes it to Albany and
also takes his brother who has been visiting him and who is leaving
for California next Monthy

1 Dec George Danford now his hired man.

10 "My brother starts for California today ( v i a ironsteamship "Sarah "
by way of Straits of Magellan.)

21 "I go to Albany about my printing business."
22 "I start my printing press up in the mill by water..."

24 "I make a bargain with C. Miller for Edwin Hays to help me."
