16 Feb William Edwards has decided to go to his father, Tho-
mas , in Brooklyn.
28 Feb Some people in Glenville, near Schenectady, "appear
very friendly" to Believers and have many times asked
for visits and teachings of the Believers. Conse-
quently members of the WF and SF have visited them a
number of times. They have been anxious to have a
meeting or worship service in their church so the com-
ing Sunday was selected. Elder Bro Freegift of CF and
James Watkins of WF went a few days ahead to arrange

sleighloads of Shakers got there through the snow, the
day was so blustery and disagreeable that very few
people attended church. Snowfall was 9-10 inches,

Noah. "They were willing to go with their father and

10 Apr Fire in Enfield, NH Society. Began at 10 am in machine
shop while all Shakers were in meeting, with a very
strong wind blowing, &o strong it was hard to hear the
alarm bells at any distance. Yet in a short time "2000
people were there" and without engines or water; so
bucket lines were formed to the lake about 40 rods
away. 11-12 buildings burned including a large barn
with 20 tons of hay. Finally stopped it about 2 pm.
Immediately after, the fire company of Lebanon NH,
about 6 miles away, arrived, having pulled their engine
through the mud and snow without horses. Dwelling
house was saved and no serious injuries.
12 May Charles Torrance, a youth, has decided to leave.
16 July Flora Markwell left.
17 July Sarah and Caroline, here on tr^Ujl, were taken away
