25 June Bro. Setn and Chas. Crosman started for Watervliet this morning to
make engagements for printing a small pamphlet on gardening.
6 July Went to Watervliet.
Sun., 12 1st and 2nd Orders met together at the meeting house in the afternoon.
13 July "Yesterday the Chh were informed that a change was to take place between
Elder Sister Caroline Downs and Eliza Wells, the former to come to the
Office for a deaconess and the latter, who had been a deaconess for some
time, to go to the 2d Order for an Elder Sister; and today they have
moved ... and we hope each will gain a gift."
14 July Brethren raise the office barn except the rafters because of a hard
shower. Garret Lawrence (of New Lebanon) has been at Saratoga Springs
for the water and left N. Bennet and E l d . B.S.Youngs there "to benefit
by a further use of the water."
16 July Frederic Wicker, Austin Buckingham, Polly Vedder and Jennet Angus went
to Saratoga Springs after medicinal herbs. Returned next day.
Sat., 18 The sisters gave them some white pocket handkerchiefs they had made
for them.
13 Aug. Richard Dean, Shubel Prentis, Hannah Youngs, HuI da Curtis, Almira
Watkins and Maria Reynolds of Watervliet South Family went home after
visiting NL since the 11th.
Freegift Wells arrived with news that Timothy Clement and James Sherman
had gone to the world. Went home on the 15th.
10 Sept. We came to Watervliet.
24 Sept. Bro.Rufus and I went to the 2d Order and help the sisters finish a new
mattress filled with cotton bats instead of hair.
1 Oct. Since March 15, the 1st Family at Watervliet from 24 cows made 2000 Ibs.
of butter and 2500 Ibs. of cheese.
2 Oct. Returned to New Lebanon.
18 Nov. Asa Seaton and James Fernley came from Watervliet and brought Dea.
Stephen down. Also a couple of work stands for Eld. Ruth and I, a
present from Dea. Nathaniel N. Enffeld.
7 Dec. We went to Watervliet by West Sand Lake and Troy, crossed the river in
a horse boat through a channel. Cold weather and good sleighing.
21 Dec. Morrell Baker adn Chancey Copley started for Black River country with
garden seeds.
29 Dec. Ann Potter nearly helpless from a fall.
