26 Aug (NL) Peter Long & Elisha Blakeman returned from Buffalo
Groveland etc. "They brought more news concerning the
society of True Inspiration. They say they are an

them & gave a strong invitation for some of the breth-

21 Oct Thieves broke into "clothiers' shop" in evening while
family was in meeting & stole 7 pieces of cloth & other
Articles but the meeting was dismissed before they got
away and a lame man by the name of Wood who was unable
to run & who once lived in the family was caught. He
said there were two others with a horse & wagon SW of
the WF. So the brethren went &, after a chase of about
^ mile, caught the one driving the wagon. They kept
them for the night & took them to Albany to the police
.the next morning.
24 Oct "Theodore Bates died at NF - 84.
25 Oct Four fat oxen stolen from River Farm.
31 Oct Found that the oxen had been sold in Waterford by "a
youth who by description is thought to be George Wood"
And the oxen had been butchered.
2 Nov Some brethren went/ to Waterford to claim the oxen. In
the meantime George Wood & his mother came to the
Office & visited his brothers & sisters here and at the
MF. While he was here, FSWicker went for an officer &
they arrested George about ^ way to Troy & took him to
jail in Albany. $100 was found on him & "he did about
as much as own his guilt before the brethren left him."
"It is to be remembered that George was among the chil-
dren in the CF & was a thievish boy & otherwise wicked
& j/when he was about 17-18 years of agihe was cut off

had both apostasized from our Society."
