12 May Masons finished underpinning of wagon house & horse
Shed and one stove was put up in the Ministry end of
the Meeting House.
14 May Ministry begin to move some of their things into the
new Meeting House.
16 May Ministry took their beds etc. from the old to the new
Meeting House and sleep there for the 1st time.
17 May Rufus went to see where the SF "was boring for coal."
19 May Brethren finish raising woodhouse & 4 backhouses by
Meeting House.
21 May Brought in 180 loads of sand to fill up around horse
shed eetc. Rufus went with Stanton "to see the farm
which the trustees have lately purchased eastward of
the cold spring...& find it to be far preferable to
what I expected." {This must be the River Farm.]
31 May Rufus has made a drab coat for Elder Bro Freegift, for
Sylvester Prentiss & Willoughby Green. Also turned one
for Freegift, for FSWicker & Chauncey Miller.
1 June "Today an accident occurred at the mill pond as the WF
brethren were washing sheep. About 8 or 9 brethren and
Boys wejs out in the boat washing the sheep when a plank
was tossed from the middle of the boy & they and the
boat went down together and Joel Smith & a German youth
Rudolph Zuber came nar losing their lives. Joel was
brought to the 1st Orders sickroom & was carefully
tended by the brethren & sisters, while Bro. David's
{David Miller was the CF physician] attention & others
were taken up with the youth at the mill, who was under
water about 5 minutes & was breathless for some time
after he was taken out.
2 June The CF washed their sheep in the creek below the mill,
and this afternoon they raised the horse shed.
3 June (Sun) First public meeting in new Meeting House.
5 June Have brought 1400 loads of dirt around new Meeting
House and outbuildings.
2 Aug FSWicker to take Ministry eldresses "to see the new
farm called "Pleasant Hill."
5 Aug (Sun) Many spectators & Rebecca Jackson "preached the pure
gospel to them which was evident to every feeling soul"
7 Aug Took away the picket fence around the old Meeting House
17 Aug Mary Train s^ltayed at the WF last night; this morning
she visited t?ihe NF and this afternoon the CF. "She
seemed hardly able to give vent to her malice, because
some of her kindred were gone after whortleberries.
She asserted th at they were sent away so that she could
not see them, but this was false."
19 Aug (Sun) Many spectators -- they filled all the stationary
