& Rebecca Jackson spoke.
16 Jan Two brethren came from NL & got Jeremiah Mull's little
printing press used by the gardeners.
19 Jan (Sun) Frederick Evans addressed public meeting about an
hour, followed by BSYoungs & Rebecca Jackson. Some
members of Legislature and the Lieut. Governor were
present.
24 Jan Has made a drab broadcloth coat for Maynard Treadway &
one for Charles Brackett.
25 Jan The brethren "moved the old hog pen up the creek by the
washhouse & the mill for a botanical use."
Jonas Nutting came [from Shirley] to contract for
broom corn & to borrow money.
27 Jan Jonas went to Albany with FSW to contract for a water
wheel for his cotton factory.
29 Jan Jonas left for Shirley. WF lent him $800 in money &
$200 in broom corn.
3 Feb Chauncey Miller & Loren Wicks went to NL to learn to
make botanical extracts.
10 Feb Ann Buckingham slipped & fell & dislocated her elbow.
12 Feb Made a coat for Nehemiah White.
24 Mar Eld Bro Freegift, Jesse Wells & Justice Harwood went to
NL to tell the Ministry that "they were in trouble.
John Malby had prosecuted Shubel Prentiss for assault
& battery & he had also sued for wages; & altho Judge
Parker gave his charge to the jury in favor of the bre-
thren, the prejudiced jury turned the case against them
But the brethren intend to appeal."
They go to Hancock to get the train back to Albany.
29 Apr David Parker & Caleb M. Dyer called at WV on their
return from Groveland & their farm near Mt. Morris.
1 May C. Copley gave the Ministry $25 towards their expenses
in visiting Groveland the next week.
19 May NF raised their washhouse "with screws which the Soci-
ety has lately purchased for such uses."
21 May Elder Issachar, Eldress Pauline, George Peavy & Mary
Anne Newman returned from their missionary journey to
Abiel Hathaway's in Vermont.
