what building or repairing is most needed & how much
can consisdtently be done the coming year.

5 Jan (NL) Samantha unwell, "trying the virtue water."
18 Jan (Sun) Many people at public meeting. Addressed by George

22 Jan Ministry were invited to office to see a medium named
Miller who has been a minister in Albany "until the
spirits called him to another work."
26 Jan FSWicker went to Albany to witness against the "wood
thieves, Fred Damp etc." who have been cutting hoop
poles on Shaker land.
27 Jan FSWicker went to Albany to appear against Williams who
had stolen a fat ox which had been found & recovered.
Williams was about 50 years old and had already served
17 years in state prisons.
20 Mar Elder Sister Samantha died at NL. Betsy Bates
appointed.
25 Apr Betsy Harrison & Phebe Ann Smith are the ones getting
messages.
2 May (Sun) After supper Brother Amos & Rufus "had a labor with
elders, ttjrrus^tees and family deacon of NF to do away
some hard feelings which had crept in relative to
temporal matters..."
7 June NL Ministry started for Ohio & Kentucky accompanied by
Eld Bro Freegift & Eld Bro Daniel from WV. Took train
To Buffalo, boat to Cleveland where they were met by
Shakers & stayed at North Union a week. Then to Union
Village from 17-28th; then to Pleasant Hill on 29th
where they stayed under a week.
12 July Left Pleasant Hill & went to South Union, arrived 14th.
26 July Left South Union for Louisville, got boat to Cincinnati
& went to Whitewater.
Elder Rufus taken sick on 31st.
2 Aug Elder Rufus very bad, called in a local doctor who said
Rufus could not live long & he died about 10 a.m.
Funeral on 3d.
5 Aug Went to Union Village.
10 Aug Went to Watervliet, Ohio. Returned to Union Village on
