17 Aug Left Union Village by railroad for Cleveland, boat to
Buffalo where Groveland Shakers met them, then railroad
& carriage to Groveland, arriving on 19th.
25 Aug Left Groveland by canal to Rochester, railroad "on the
Troy cars as far as the halfway house" where brethren
from WV met them.

13 Oct K-David Miller died - 77 yrs. "He has been a faithful
soul, much beloved by the elders, brethren & sisters in
general; he had filled an important place in the Soci-
ety in the line of physician besides bearing a heavy
burden in the Eldership order. Was an Elder Brother in
the CF about 14 years but he had been released" a num-
ber of years ago.
14 Oct "It is concluded to build an ell on the Ministry Shop
to make a work shop 24'xl61. It is intended for a

16 Oct Brother Daniel begins to dig the foundation for our
shop. Brethren finish digging potatoes--about 2000 bu.
18 Oct Finish digging foundation ditch on south & east. "We
Had to dig 5-6 ft. Thru the muck in order to reach the
sand. We pounded in cobblestones & filled the ditch
about half full ready for the masons."
19 Oct Elder Amos [AS] "works part of the time making prepara-
tions to build a cistern under the Meeting House to
hold rain water."
25 Oct At the SF, a young man who said he was from New Orleans
stole $47 from an aged man visiting from Vermont, a
watch & $19 from an English candidate, and $17 and a
suit of clothes from a man from Black River country.
Masons begin work on Ministry shop.
27 Oct Brick walls going up & door & window frames put in.
Group of six men, surveying for railroad, ask to board
for a few days at Office. Preferred route from Albany
to Bingharnton to run between WF and SF.
29 Oct Put up joists for 2d floor & put in window frames.
1 Nov Brick work finished, ready for plates.
3 Nov Finish roof rafters & "begin the jet."
4 Nov Finish the jet and board the roof.
