Asenath & Sister Betsy came by railroad because of
Eldress's poor health.
25 Jan A brother drawing manure across the Mohawk River at
Vischer' s Ferry with an ox team broke thru the ice.
Water about 15' deep, with some help he managed to
Unyoke the oxen & get them out but could not find the
sleigh. Some brethren went & looked & could not find
it either--apparently carried along by the current.
Oliver Prentice had an accident while out in woods
cutting timber 6 almost cut off his right thumb.

9 Mar Chauncey Miller & FSWicker went to Lebanon to bring

14 Mar Eld Bro Freegift went to NL & told them that TBSYoungs
had stood the trip quite well but a doctor who examined
him said his hip was broken. He had fallen on Jan.7th.
30 Mar (NL) Bro Ephraim Prentiss visiting from Gloucester, Me.
& going on to WV.
8 Apr (NL) Elder Joseph Bracket from Gloucester came. "His
main purpose was concerning Ephraim Prentiss."
11 Apr (NL) Jethro Turner of NL 2d Order died after many
months of suffering from a cancer in his throat - 89
years. "A worthy pillar he has been, a great support
In time of trial, this I know by experience. He is the
last of what is called Mother's first born in the
church, meaning those that were grown up when the
Gospel opened."
26 Apr Chauncey Copley gave the Ministry a new span of horses,
5 years old.
28 Apr Justice Harwood went to Shirley to see Caleb Dyer about
the trouble they are having with their mill.
