(NL) Elders & deacons agree, because the burying
ground was about full, to start a new one "in the
Deming lot, west of the road between the 2d Order & 2d
Family" west of the former one. Propose to take away
stones, level the ground & put cedar posts at the head
of the graves (if posts are reasonably priced).
1 Oct (Sun) (NL) Having previously advised each family of the
Plan for today, at 8 a.m. the families assembled &
ascended the Mount, stepping to the sound of a march
as they went up. They stopped at the halfway place,
"Sung some, welcomed the good spirits, then marched on
again." When they reached the top they assembled
around the Fountain, some speaking to unite the feel-
ings to thankfulness and to put our trust in God. We
all then kneeled down around the Fountain & prayed for
the blessing of God & the Holy Angels. We arose and
partook of the spiritual water from the Fountain. A
dancing song was then pitched up, we danced around &
showered our love & blessing on each other in simpli-
city, a good feeling seemed to prevail. We then had a
short intermission and went into the house; as yet no
spectators had arrived. They spent about m hours in
the house, speaking & singing, then went out & marched
a number of songs around the Fountain. About 60-80 of
the world had arrived. Brother Frederick addressed the
spectators. Then they had some more speaking singing
& were dismissed. Most of the world preceded them down
the Mount but some walked alongside as the Shakers
t>marched. Arrived home about 2 cp.m.
13 Oct Abigail Lemon had a stroke ("a fit of numb palsy").
14 Oct Elder Amos & Bro Daniel "pick locust seed for Lebanon

to be in a very bad condition."
1 Nov Went with committee to look at the condition of the
buildings & what to do next season. At the NF they are
to build a dry kiln, single the 2d house & repair their
horse stable; at the CF to build a new kiln for drying
fruit, herbs & roots, make some repairs to the henhouse
& move the old mill across the road & build a cellar.
