22 &ati\e to WV. Got stuck in blizzard outside Albany,
Along with two men in their own sleighs. Manged to get
off the road into the fields. A Mr. Gove who lived
nearby took them to his house. Elder Amos froze his
ears, Bro Daniel his cheeks. Gove had only a cold barn
5 no feed for the horses, but Ogden Orment, one of the
stranded men, said he lived about 3/4 mile and offered
to keep their horses if they would take them there.
Calvin Reynolds of WF was returning from Albany with a
load of coal & had to leave his load & come on with his
horses, as did James Langridge, so the Ministry sent
word to WV as to where they were. Ministry started for
Orment's but got to Shepherd's (about %. mile) by mis-
take about 4 p.m. But they were taken into the house,
fed supper & breakfast, stayed the night & their horses
were taken care of--fed hay & grained night & morning.
[It was 11 below zero.] Nest Morning, started shoveling
6 breaking road, met Ogden Orment & his hired man &
They helped. In about one mile they met some of the
brethren with 4-5 teams who had shoveled & broken the
road for about 3 miles. So they went back, hitched up
their horses, collected the sisters at Goves & covered
them with blankets & then followed the brethren, fin-
ally reaching WV.
28 Jan- DABuckingham found someone had broken into the henhouse
& stolen a quantity of fowls (33) but it was quite easy
to track them as it had snowed the day before & Cmiller
& Jesse followed the tracks about 2 miles to the house
where a man named Davis lived. Got an officer to come
out to the house. No one came to the door so the offi-
cer went in thru the window. One man was found under a
bed & another in a closet; 2 bags of fowls found & 2-3
already dressed, all of which the brethren brought home
