                               A  group    started    for   the   Black   River    country--Cyrus,

                               Martha,     Irena    & Lucy    Bates.     "Martha     received    a   letter
<br>
                               from   the   Town   of   Redwood    stating     that   Oren   Bates,    Mar-
<br>
                               tha's    husband,     requested     her   to  come   and   see   to  his
<br>
                               interests      as  she   was   the  lalwful     one   to  take   charge    of
<br>
                               matters."

<b>17  Sept</b>      Eldress     Betsy    & Sister    Eliza    Ann   went   to  SF   "&  saw

                               Rebecca     Jackson    &  little    Rebecca,     the   colored    women.

                               They   returned      last   Tuesday    to   stay.     They   appear    to

                               feel   quite    humble    &  thankful     for   another    privilege."

<b>20  Sept</b>      Eldress     Betsy,    Eliza   Ann   &  Elder    Amos   go  to   NF  to  see

                               The   elders    "about    taking    Calvin    Reynolds     back    &  give
