28 Oct (NL) Philemon wanted to stay on at the 2d Family in
charge of the grape business, also the chair factory

1 Nov School began, taught by^illiam Bussell of SF, with

14 Nov (Sun) Last public meeting until spring. "Notice of same
given to spectators."
16 Nov Elizabeth Seely, accompanied by Chauncey Miller &
Matilda Wells went to New Canaan, Conn. To see about
Some property which she had inherited from an aunt &
thought to be worth about $215. Returned on 20th.
17 Nov Eld Emory Brooks arrived from Groveland to see Ministry
"About their spiritual condition at Groveland."
21 Nov Mathew VanDeusen (a seceder from Groveland) came to see
the Ministry, "wanted to borrow about $1000 for a season
to aid him in getting a favorable location in the world
etc., promising to pay interest until such time as he
could replay the principle. In case of refusal to lend
him that sum, he threatens to publish a v/ork setting
forth the case & doings of the people at Groveland
according to his sense..."
27 Nov Elder Richard has had a problem in sleeping since being
appointed to the ministry, is highly nervous, so he
returned to NL on 29th. His temporal job is supposed
to be making seed boxes.
6 Dec Bro Daniel Boler finished 123 seed boxes which were
Supposed to be made by Eld Richard and left unfinished.
8 Dec Rest of Ministry returned to NL. Found Eld Richard
"Rather down-spirited & have little or no hope of his
joining our company very soon if ever."
23 Dec (NL) Elizabeth Taylor died, and now they are considering
"The way & manner poor Billy Taylor [a son] was to be
cared for & concluded that if the 2d Family would take
that burden the CF was willing to give their equal
