20 Oct Ministry--Elder Daniel Boler, Giles Avery, Betsy Bates- & Eliza Ann
Taylor, started ,_ona journey ;to the eastern societies for the pur-
pose of transferring "the guardianship of the Bishopric" if Alfred
& New Gloucester, Maine from the Canterbury Ministry to the New
Lebanon Ministry.
8 Nov Traveled to Harvard. "Harvard needs the aid'of angels." Visited
Shirley, & returned to Lebanon on the 12th.
26 Nov Daniel Boler came to inform them of moving Sister Jerusha Smith from
Lebanon 2d Order to W WF.
28 Nov (NL) Amy Bennett "who has been insane for some time, died at Lebanon
East Family, aged 58.
7 Dec Ministry came to WV.
12 Dec CF used their new washhouse for the first time.
13 Dec Mariah Gillet appointed eldress at SF in place of Paulina Bates, who
will live with her. "Irena Bates moves into the family to care for the
youth & children and temporalities, no unfaithfulness anywhere in
parties ahunger, they simply needed more help."
23 Dec Ministry go to NF to talk to the ..family about the propriety of being
set off in temporal matters from the CF.
Received from Lebanon "Oliver Prentiss/ covenant etc. with a view of
meeting Oliver in a few days."
26 Dec Met with CF about setting off the NF; they were agreeable.
27 Dec Taled to the WF about "receiving again into linion Oliver Prentiss,
who now lives near Hoosick Corners. The prevailing feeling is against
Oliver's return; it is believed he will do very much more harm than
good by a privilege among Believers again. Oliver is of course in-
formed by the Ministry that it is not considered prooper for him to
return, but is informed that if he chooses to confess his sins he can
have a measure':of union in living out the princioples of the gospel as
best he can, in the capacity/of an outsider; this, at present, Oliver
does not choose to accept, he consequently returned home, to live a
worthy life, as we suppose."
28 Dec The Watervliet teams are engaged in drawing gravel onto the road
towards Albany.
29 Dec Ministry appointed a committee of Eld Bro C. Copley, Jesse Harwood,
C. Miller, DABuckingham as clerk, to divide up the properties of the
1st & 2d Orders. One of the first three named will go to the NF as
a Trustee but they are not told which one.
