8 Aug NL "Angelo Lockwood of 2d Order, a youth about 19, who has
been among Believeers about two years, & been exceedingly
well behaved, is suddently taken raving crazy. Giles is
staying with him as Elder Calvin is sick & the family
much unwell. Benjamin Gates took him to Pittsfield yes-
terday to see a physician; they think it a hard case to
cure."
9 Aug NL Angylelo's mother from New York comes to see him.
13 (Sun) Meeting of whole society elders & deacons orders about
Believers' dress. Discontinue use of drab cloth, intro-
duce use of deep blue mixed for coats & frocks, steel gray
for pants, & indigo blue for jackets.
14 Aug Ministry come to WV.
15 Aug "AugustusCunningham from Washington DC here for a visit.
His grandmother harbored & employed Mother Ann in New York
when she first came to this country from England. His nar-
rative is interesting."
16 Aug NL Benf. Gates took Angelo Lockwood to the insane asylum in
; North Hampton, as he is so very insane it is not reasonable
to keep .him."

18 Aug Charlotte Neal of Lebanon girls' order and her sister from
the East Family come to WV in care of Eldress Sarah Van
Vyke.
21 Aug Elizabeth Youngs died.
22 Aug Giles goes to Island farm of NF; they have there 60 acres
broom corn, 8 acres sweet corn, & 8 acres of pop corn.
2 Sept WF buy a farm north of them & joining them called the
Clute farm.
4 Sept Ministry return to Lebanon.
22 Sept Ministry is visiting Harvard 2d Family. Composed of 3
adult males, 3 little boys & 12 sisters. Two of the males
are over 80 years, the other about 22 & not compos mentis.
14 Oct Angelo Lockwood visiting Lebanon "again."
16 Oct NL Virginius Lockwood decides to go to NYC with his brother
Angelo.
26 Oct Ministry arrive at WV on way back from visit to eastern
societies.
17 Nov Giles "levelling for getting water to the washhouse at CF.
The idea is to get water from the pond to the barn &
steam boiler at washhouse." :
23 Nov Ministry return to Lebanon. Been gone about 10 weeks.
