7 Oct (Sun) After society singing meeting in the afternoon "at which
almost everyone, able to do so, attended, Fred Evans told
of his English journey.
Margaret Reamer, aged 41, died at Lebanon.
Bro William Gray, a young Englishman of NF^at Lebanon,
is crazy. "It is a great pity, as he was a fine young man."
10 Oct Ministry to Groveland. Find they have built a new laundry
combined with a weave shop, dye house, & fruit house. Have
a new boiler in new brick boiler house, all complet^e &
running; have put a new metal roof on dwelling house, and
are preparing to put up a new woodhouse, ice house & car-
riage house yet this fall.
17 Oct Ministry & Elders discuss merging the Groveland families.
Church elders principally opposed.
19 (Grove) Meet with Elders & Trustees a_t>out stopping the sale
of pine lumber from G)froveland forest. "It is argued that
the pine is decaying & losing in value."
21 Oct Ministry come back to WV.
26 Oct Meeting with Trustees & Klders to "determine who shall
engage in the seed peddling this year. Nothing can be
decided, so much difficulty among leaders."
27 Oct Arrangements made today for Philip Smith to take the seed
peddling business & Charles Brackett to go with him this
season.

12 Nov (NL) Have meeting of all the officials of the Society, both
male & female, about the propriety of breaking up the East
Family. It is decided to do so on April 1, 1872, Their
stock is mostly sold off already to pay their debts.
Members of East Family "receive the news very cooly, but
very much crossed, altho they have b_ een expecting it for
some time."
6 Dec Giles comes to WV. Matthew Radiker went to the world from
CF on Monday the 4th, and today Elizabeth Turk went to her
mother in Albany to become Matthew's wife. Giles back to NL
