28 June Chauncey Dibble is in middle NY canvassing for "The Shaker."
1 July Giles at NF principally, in labors with Josiah Barker and
others.
4 July Ministry get a letter from. Groveland requesting Bro George
M. Curtiss to come for a few months as JClder Calvin's eyes
are very sore and he is almost blind.
Giles making seed boxes, Elder Daniel getting out basket
stuff.
10 July Elder Daniel & Giles go with Alexander Youngs to see his
"out farms, all of them. About 60 head of cattle on Rosen-
dale place.
Release Aurelia White and Electa Thomas from Eldress at
NF, succeeded by Elizabeth Harrison & Katy Ferguson.
Those released go back to CF. Lucy Fuller & Mary Nelson
appointed Eldress at CF .
12 July Giles at SF to help get out the old wooden aqueduct and
put in an iron one at their machine shop.
14 July "C. Miller assures us of his releasement from all his cares
and burdens, at once, today. On account of state of seed
business."
15 July "A dentist here, fitting some teeth for Elder GA Lornas,
some trials concerning it."

of the Maine societies and moving southwest.
Spend a week at Old Orchard Beach "bathing and health re-
cruiting as sisters are very unwell." "We all bathe once
and twice each day; health is improving with everyone but
the writer (Giles)."
At Enfield Ct. "the deacon has purchased about $700 of
Italian marble gravestones highly polished, cost $16 each."
"We are called upon to decide whether they shall be set up."
10 Sept (Enfield) Have meeting of all the leaders of the society on
graveyard question. "The feeling is about equally divided
between having
demise, and no monument at all, somewhat in the Quaker plan.
It is concluded not to erect the polished Italian marble
monuments."
