25 Sept Ministry come to WV.

29 Sept (Sun) Albert Lomas addressed public meeting on "If all were
to become Shakers, the world would run out."

1 Oct Picking apples. Get in 100 bushels or more.

5 Oct Picking apples, getting in onions. Hired men cleaning out
brook at lower end of farm.

6 Oct Last public meeting for the season.

11 Oct Have continued picking apples; hired men digging potatoes
& chicory.

14 Oct Ministry go to Groveland. About 60 souls there now. (20
at West Family)

28 Oct WF barn at WV burns. Arson. Loss about $10,000.

30 Oct Ministry back at WV. Hear more about fire and about Galen
Richmond being robbed in the evening in the woods near the
Shakers.

31 Oct Families getting in cider apples; hired men getting in
chicar^y; potatoes all dug, crop light, small.

2 Nov Giles drawing plans for new barn for WF.

5 Nov SF barn burns, about $12,000 loss of barns, hay & grain.
Also arson.

6 Oct Have meeting "to resolve what to do concerning efforts at
detection of the incendiaries and robbers." Deacons go to
see the Albany Chief of Police.

8 Nov Stanton Buckingham, Charles Brackett & Giles go to SF to
help in making a lumber shed into a cowhouse this winter.

9 Nov Brethren!^ hired men & Ministry are now keeping watch all
night in the WV families.

11 Nov "Robbing and incendiary fires around us; neighbors are
keeping watch nights."

15 Nov Ministry spend most of t$he day with office deacons about
seed business, how to manage it, what to do with it, whether
to throw it up, etc. We ask George Price to take it, he
refuses, is very sick. Our sisters are very sick with fear
and wakefulness nights.

16 Nov Elder Daniel & Ministry Sisters return to Lebanon. Giles
stays to help in watching & to help SF get cow shed ready.
18 Nov Elder Daniel at Lebanon working to move editorship of our
"Shaker" paper to Lebanon NF, with Fred Evans as editor.
19 Nov Henry Hollister & Bosworth Crocker come from Lebanon 2d
