there 18 months. "His report of the CF at Groveland is

8 Nov Eld Daniel & Giles spend whole day at SF with Abial
Hathaway and Porter Stearns.
10 Nov Chauncey Copley "petitions for a release from his burdens
at NF; he is 70 years old."
12 Nov Giles cleans out west room of extract building & puts up a
stove, getting ready to paint Ministry carriage in there.
14 Nov Giles cutting up stuff to make a sewing machine counter
for Eldress Polly.
20 Nov Eld Daniel & Giles spend the day at SF in labors with Abial
Hathaway, Porter Stearns & Forbes Monson. (Latter came on
15th, "a very interesting & singularly conditioned charac-
ter, according to his own report of himself".)
29 Nov Giles spend morning at SF with Abial Hathaway, Porter Stearns,
Forbes Monson & Elder Albert.
4 Dec Eld Daniel & Giles go to WF to see Elders & Deacons con-
cerning the brethren's business for the winter, "to get
them making brooms."
5 Dec Giles goes to all the families to notify them of a meeting
on Sunday, the 7th, about "the propriety or impropriety of
obtaining a musical instrument to train some by in singing."
6 Dec C. Copley again asks Ministry for release from deaconship
at NF.
7 (Sun) At meeting, also consider support"of "Shaker & Shakeress"
and "the putting away of photographs of individuals or groups
of individuals aside from landscape scenery."
8 Dec Giles goes to NF to see elders & Josiah Barker. In evening
have official talk with C . Miller who has talked several
times about giving up his place.
9 Dec At SF appoint Ozias Turney to care for the farm.

15 Dec Ministry return to Lebanon, leaving unresolved question of
C. Miller & his trusteeship.
