20 Feb (NL) Giles & George Wickersham are ocawing up plans for
new dwelling house; 300,000 bricks are ordered in Chicopee
Mass, at $8 per thousand; flooring & roofing also ordered.
5 Mar (NL) Elder Frederick comes to Meeting House concerning the
Shaker paper, wants to drop it at once.
6 Mar (NL) On Feb. 27 their Herbarium burned and \\s later
the Herb Shop. So now Banj. Gates goes to Boston to
see Cheeney & Myrick about buying out our herb business.
(Chas. Harris had worked for them about 4 years, mainly
packing herbs, so he is suspected of these fires also and
arrested.)
24 Mar Giles comes to Wvlt to see South Family mostly, "in much
trouble on account of a want of union among the Elders etc. "
26 Mar Giles spend the day at CF "in spiritual labors & talks with
the Trustees about business matters. Much trouble in the
family with some young Believers."
27 Mar Giles goes to WE to see George Freeman and others there.
"There is much trouble with some of them."
29 Mon) Giles goes to WF to see George Freeman, who chososes to
go away today. *

30 Mar Giles returns to Lebanon, finds Elder Daniel Boler quite
ill with boils etc.
4 Apr (NL) Ministry & Office Deacons decide to sell out farms--
Doolittle place, Washington Mt., Westfield, Michigan places
etc. to get funds to build new dwelling.
22 Apr Giles & Eld Daniel come to Wvlt.
23 Apr "Eldress Ann [Buckingham] is trying to arrange for an Elder
Sister in the CF as Eldress Lucy Fuller deceased a few days
since/, very unexpectedly." Lydia Annas is appointed, and
Abby Messenger:is to go to the Office & take her place.
24 Apr "Ministry making labors in Society, go to SF & make serious
labors in Elders Order. Also to NF to consult about removal
of some of the Elders in Solciety, particularly, SF.'J
29 Apr At Hudson, trial of Chas. Harris ended, he is sentenced to
14 years in Clinton Prison, the maximum.
1 May Ministry making changes; request Chauncey Miller to move
back into Office & he consents to do so for a few months
"but wants to give up the burden of the family's support
5 all business but the farm and outfarms."

3 May Ministry speak to Philip Smith about moving to Trustees'
Office & taking burden of seed business.
